Baby Shower Notes of Advice book

August 4, 2014 by Rebecca Wagner 4 Comments

Its a Girl album (2)

Every time there is a baby shower coming up, we try to think of new ideas besides just playing games. My friend wanted a “Notes of Advice” album and asked me how we could make one that was very adorable and pink. It had to be something we could hand out and put together to give to the parents-to-be before they left the shower. I have been on a serious time crunch with the move, so it had to be simple. Here’s what I came up with.

Its a Girl album (1)

Using the base layer of the onesie from the Cutie Patootie SVG set, I used the pen feature of the eclips2 to draw the lines. Then replaced the pen and put the blade back in to cut the background.  The lined note cards were given out for everyone to jot down their words of wisdom. I wanted to put “don’t have kids,” but was vetoed by a few ladies. It is too late for them anyway.

Its a Girl album (3)

As simple Print n’ Cut title on the front, simple book ring, and a pinch of twine, my note card album was complete. Only thing that I was careful with was trying to line up a cute front and back page with the sheet of paper. It turned out pretty cute. Even though I made it and ran out of the house without getting decent pictures. Let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for stopping by!

This is fantastic, Becki! You did an amazing job. Great idea for all kinds of get-togethers, too.

Thanks, Lesley! Yep, I think so. All you have to do is change the shape. Wouldn’t a wedding dress one be cute for a bridal shower?

Good news: when everything’s written down, at least the chaos is organized.

Pay it. Check it off. Pretend you’re thriving.

Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reaso Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reason…

They’re narrow.

And I get it.
Personal is the perfect middle ground. Bigger than Pocket, fits in your purse, but way more portable than A5.

But the width?
That’s always been the complaint.

Lately I’ve been seeing people try to squeeze Personal Wide into standard Personal binders… and then wonder why the pages stick out.

So instead of making it wider… I went the other direction.

Foldouts.

For 2026, I reworked the layout to give you more planning space without changing the footprint.

Month on one page
Straight into your weekly
Dashboard space (because you know I had to keep that)
And when it’s folded?
Standard Personal Size. Fits your binder like it should.

Now I need your opinion before I finalize this…

What works better in vertical boxes?

Field research, planner style. Since the Coach no Field research, planner style.

Since the Coach notebooks are sold out, I grabbed this leather cover on Amazon to test the fit.
Good news: it fits beautifully (and it’s roomy enough for tabs).

Bad news?
I got excited and didn’t read the whole listing.

No snap.
No elastic.
Just vibes.

Luckily I’ve got elastic on hand… but consider this your reminder from someone who learned the hard way:

Read the full listing, friends.

Sometimes the best combinations aren’t planned… they just happen.

The Aquarelle Sky cover paired with Candy Rush tabs turned out to be one of those moments. The colors line up so perfectly, it looks like they were made for each other.

Just a little unexpected color magic.
