My Cowabunga Cowlendar!

January 9, 2012 by Rebecca Wagner 9 Comments

Ever since I made the Matryoshka Doll calendar (modeled after Jin’s) last year, I have to make a few to give away every year.  I really enjoy designing and passing them out at church around New Years. This year I didn’t get them out in a timely fashion the way I wanted.  I haven’t even finished designing and cutting the ones I am giving to my girlfriends either.  Well, at least they will have something to look forward too.

Lettering Delights actually made it very easy this year to print out cute calendars with their Cowbunga Cowlendar graphic set.  But I wanted to spruce it up a bit then just print and cut around the cows themselves.  So I thought I would make the calendar a rounded square with a perforated top for easy tearing.  The 2012 stays but she can just fold up the month and tear off.  How cool is that?!?

Designing the calendar in Make the Cut was pretty easy.  One tip I can give you is design your whole project first before bringing in your textures.  I have a pretty fast computer and it bogs down something terrible when there are large textures open in Make the Cut.  These were Print and Cut on my Silhouette SD and finished it off with some Trendy Twine in Sky.  The blue background is from Lettering Delights 365 Days paper pack and the font I can’t recall.  This is going to match perfect for my friend who has a cozy country type kitchen with the light blues.

My husband joked that this could be used as coasters because the paper is so thick.  The paper is the Staples Matte Photo Supreme paper.  I really liked it for it’s sturdiness, that may not be your cup of tea.  So you could make the bottom layer in cardstock and the others in printer paper if you prefer.  That’s whats great about this project, make it anyway you want.

Hope you have enjoyed today’s project!  I have a few more calendars I made with different graphics sets that I will be getting up, so be sure to check back tomorrow.  I have been really getting into the Print and Cut capabilities of my Silhouette SD lately.  So hopefully I can stop before you all get bored.  ^__^

Have a great week and be crafty!

Really cute! I love Jin’s tutorials too.

BTW, thanks for the staples link. I am going to buy a pack and try it out. I currently use Epson paper which is really expensive for crafts.

and it says it is reversible. That’s a plus right there. I have been paying at least $17.99 for the paper I use (usually around $32) and I can only use one side, now I know there is something else out there that I can use.

Oh, I like to make stuff following Jin’s tutorials too, check it out at my blog 🙂

Just became a follower of you blog! Great place and yes I love that it is reversible. That helps with the price for me. I don’t know how I would use that feature but it’s nice to have none the less.

Keep an eye out on Staples ads. I purchased that paper for the first time last week and it was only a dollar! Of course, I am waiting for my $13.99 rebate check (2 per household, I am getting $27.98 back). I don’t like rebates but if you are going to buy it anyway, why not?!?

Sneak peek at the A5 spirals made just for the Coa Sneak peek at the A5 spirals made just for the Coach notebook.
White plastic coil, slim cardboard backing so it slides right into the pocket, and cardstock covers — personalized, not coated.

Alien cover = Monthly Deluxe (with lined pages in back).
Bookshelf cover = Weekly Horizontal Compact.

We did have to cut the deluxe notes section to keep everything on a smaller coil (so the weekly fits), but we’re still testing what else we can add… including a special feature I’m not spilling yet.

Trying to make this thing as functional as humanly possible — stay tuned. 👀✨

Who else is ready to upgrade their Coach with something way more functional than the paper it came with?

It’s TikTok-famous and cute, but the “calendar” situation? Yeah… we can do better.

We’re in testing mode to create actually gorgeous refills for it — monthlies, weeklies, and all the pages this thing should have come with in the first place.

Question for you:
👉 What kind of refill would you want first — monthly, weekly, or notes?

Stay tuned. This baby’s about to level up. 📆🌸
