A Snowy Birthday

January 18, 2012 by Rebecca Wagner 7 Comments

Well, apparently I am the only one still working my way through Winter themed cards and such.  I guess I better get these all out and start on my Valentine’s projects.  I guess never read my blog for the latest ideas on an upcoming holiday.  You’ll be behind as much as me!  I just hate to waste a good project just because I’m a slacker.  ^__^

Once again I made a birthday card using SVG Cuts Winter’s Chill set. I know this isn’t really a mom-type birthday card but I wanted to make this one as soon as I saw it.  I think my mom will like it regardless.  At least I actually sent it on time this year.

I tried to keep the colors pretty monochromatic and chilly looking.  I used various colors of card stock from Recollections solid stacks.

Ribbon is also from the inexpensive Recollections brand.  Viva Decor pen in Pearl for the white and Beads in a Bottle for the blue embellishment.

More of my favorite embellishment –  Trendy Twine completes the band on the mitten.  The color is one of my favorites that Lesley makes, it’s called Sky.  It is a natural off-white with a soft blue.  Very vintage looking.

You’ve probably stopped reading by now but I will let you know anyway. The sentiment is two My Thoughts Exactly stamp sets (see, I told you they can be mixed and matched!) – Sweet Thoughts with Holly Jolly Phrases.  I curved the “birthday” myself, it doesn’t come like that.

I promise, no more cards from Winter’s Chill for at least a few weeks.  LOL  Have a great week and don’t forget about the giveaway right here on my blog.  You have till Friday, January 20th to enter!

Edit: This just in!  Alyssa has released the February stamp sets for pre-order.  That makes 7, count ’em, 7 more sets to choose from should you be the winner!  So don’t forget to enter.  You have a chance to enter up to 4 times with bonus entries.  Don’t delay, enter now!!

You can check out the new Valentine sets here at My Thoughts Exactly

Becki please don’t stop making winter cards because you do them so well! I love this card and your touch on it. (I dig the twine and ALWAYS looking for a chance to use my viva pens!) I especially love how you mixed those sets and show everyone that the results are endless!

Thanks ladies! I appreciate the comments! I love the one Viva Decor pen I have but it always seems to want to mess up any project I put it on. You can’t see in the picture but the stupid thing spurted all over the back of the little star it is on. I guess I will have to practice one or two dots before using it on my project. It seems the first one or so is the worst. ^__^

Foil lovers... we heard you. Since our foil equi Foil lovers... we heard you.

Since our foil equipment went down, the messages and emails have not stopped. We know how much you love the look and honestly we love it too.

Replacing commercial foil equipment runs into the tens of thousands of dollars and, like a lot of small businesses right now, that's just not realistic.

After months of testing with our existing setup, we think we found a way to bring foil back.

It's not mass factory perfect. Occasionally there may be a tiny spot where the foil doesn't pull 100%. Nothing obvious, nothing we wouldn't personally use, and nothing that doesn't meet our standards will ship.

But overall? We think it looks pretty gorgeous.

Before we officially bring foil back…

Would you still want it knowing it's handcrafted and not machine perfect?

Tell me honestly in the comments. Your feedback will decide this one.

Good news: when everything’s written down, at least the chaos is organized.

Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reaso Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reason…

They’re narrow.

And I get it.
Personal is the perfect middle ground. Bigger than Pocket, fits in your purse, but way more portable than A5.

But the width?
That’s always been the complaint.

Lately I’ve been seeing people try to squeeze Personal Wide into standard Personal binders… and then wonder why the pages stick out.

So instead of making it wider… I went the other direction.

Foldouts.

For 2026, I reworked the layout to give you more planning space without changing the footprint.

Month on one page
Straight into your weekly
Dashboard space (because you know I had to keep that)
And when it’s folded?
Standard Personal Size. Fits your binder like it should.

Now I need your opinion before I finalize this…

What works better in vertical boxes?
