Hopping Through the Holidays Day Three

December 4, 2011 by Rebecca Wagner 10 Comments

OK everyone, last and final day to enter our Holiday hop giveaway!  The directions on entering will be at the bottom of this post.  For those of you who are here for the first time and/or hopping again, you don’t want to miss anything so go back to Bee’s blog to start at the beginning. I will keep my post short today for you and for me.  Busy day for me and you all don’t want to hear my diatribes.  I’ll be nice for once and keep it short. Once again, I thought I would show you the more involved project from the Nutcrackers in November challenge – Advent Calendar.  The file was made by my friend Trish and was a little different then what I am used to Advent Calendars looking like.  If you would like to download the file for your own use, please go to the Make the Cut forum on post Challenge Three.  Make the Cut and Trish have given me permission to link to the challenge.

I can’t say it was hard to put together, just time consuming.  I wish I would have had more time to decorate it.  And I kind of man-handled it a little too much.  That’s why it is sort-of wavy.  ^__^  See the lovely tree and holly leaves on the bottom?  They are from the new Christmas files from SVGs by Bee.  Go check them out.  If you don’t see them yet, rest assured Bee is adding them to the site as I type.  They are soooo cute and cut like buttah!  I have plans for you O’ Christmas tree!

Most all other decor on the sides are from Lettering Delights Christmas Simple Shapes, a Christmas Carol and Ornament Collection.  The whole calendar used a Christmas stack by DCWV that I purchased last year and forgot the name of.  You know me, forgetful.  I just did a Print n Cut on most of them.  I love this feature when you don’t want to cut every layer out.

Look at those beautiful wings!  You know who made those right?  My friend Belinda aka Bee aka SVGs by Bee.  With her amazing file, a little embossing and a little Martha Stewart glitter a beautiful creation can be made.  I think they really put the icing on the cake.   So glad I finally got to use the wings.  Look for these little beauties on other upcoming projects too.  hehe

Oldest spawn in his grandpa sweater enjoying his Tums (bad cellphone picture)

On a final, funny note.  I forgot to go get candy for the calendar, me being the smart alec I am, put antacids in the first drawer.  I called the boys and told them they didn’t check their goodies.  When they opened the drawer and saw the Tums they laughed and then ATE IT!  Without even batting an eye!  I don’t know whether to think that’s the greatest or feel sad.  LOL, those boys take everything in stride.   Gotta love’em.  By the way, I did go out and get them some real goodies for being good sports.

Well, hope you enjoyed today’s project and my little story, so here is how to enter my giveaway if you haven’t already.  I will be drawing a winner on Monday, December 5th.  To enter, please follow the directions on Day 1’s post which can be found here.  Only comments made on “DAY 1” will be entered into the giveaway.

Here is the line-up again if you didn’t hop the first day or want to go enjoy some more craftiness:

Foil lovers... we heard you. Since our foil equi Foil lovers... we heard you.

Since our foil equipment went down, the messages and emails have not stopped. We know how much you love the look and honestly we love it too.

Replacing commercial foil equipment runs into the tens of thousands of dollars and, like a lot of small businesses right now, that's just not realistic.

After months of testing with our existing setup, we think we found a way to bring foil back.

It's not mass factory perfect. Occasionally there may be a tiny spot where the foil doesn't pull 100%. Nothing obvious, nothing we wouldn't personally use, and nothing that doesn't meet our standards will ship.

But overall? We think it looks pretty gorgeous.

Before we officially bring foil back…

Would you still want it knowing it's handcrafted and not machine perfect?

Tell me honestly in the comments. Your feedback will decide this one.

Nothing ruins a perfectly good month like… bills Nothing ruins a perfectly good month like… bills.

Good news: when everything’s written down, at least the chaos is organized.

Pay it. Check it off. Pretend you’re thriving.

Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reaso Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reason…

They’re narrow.

And I get it.
Personal is the perfect middle ground. Bigger than Pocket, fits in your purse, but way more portable than A5.

But the width?
That’s always been the complaint.

Lately I’ve been seeing people try to squeeze Personal Wide into standard Personal binders… and then wonder why the pages stick out.

So instead of making it wider… I went the other direction.

Foldouts.

For 2026, I reworked the layout to give you more planning space without changing the footprint.

Month on one page
Straight into your weekly
Dashboard space (because you know I had to keep that)
And when it’s folded?
Standard Personal Size. Fits your binder like it should.

Now I need your opinion before I finalize this…

What works better in vertical boxes?

Field research, planner style. Since the Coach no Field research, planner style.

Since the Coach notebooks are sold out, I grabbed this leather cover on Amazon to test the fit.
Good news: it fits beautifully (and it’s roomy enough for tabs).

Bad news?
I got excited and didn’t read the whole listing.

No snap.
No elastic.
Just vibes.

Luckily I’ve got elastic on hand… but consider this your reminder from someone who learned the hard way:

Sometimes the best combinations aren’t planned… they just happen.

The Aquarelle Sky cover paired with Candy Rush tabs turned out to be one of those moments. The colors line up so perfectly, it looks like they were made for each other.

Just a little unexpected color magic.
