Give Thanks Wood Sign

December 19, 2013 by Rebecca Wagner 2 Comments

msc 002_1I know what you are thinking – why in the world is she posting a Autumn project for around Christmas?!? Guess what, it’s technically still Fall!!  Hahahaha, I know it doesn’t come to mind when you are under a foot of snow. Anyway, I couldn’t wait till next year to show you my first foray into wood working. My hubby bought me a router and band saw for my birthday this past October and two weeks later I was finally brave enough to use it. The noise scares me sometimes. Yeah, I’m a sissy…

msc 011_1So, when I got my nerves in check I thought a wood sign of some type would be the easiest. Something with a fat silhouette and gentle curves to get a feel for the band saw. Since it was still November (albeit the last few days) I thought a acorn would be a perfect. I found a great one in the Blessings Trio set from My Scrap Chick. I had already used it for a cute box the week before. It was part of a flourish originally, but a quick snip in my software gave me the shape I was looking for. After I sized it and cut out both the bottom and cap to the acorn on paper I just traced it onto my wood with a pencil then cut away. It was pretty simple.

After I had it sanded and painted, I felt it needed a little something so I decided to add a sentiment to the front. The “give thanks” is another My Scrap Chick file. Instead of trying to make sure the paint didn’t bleed with a stencil on top of the shadow cut, I used brown vinyl for the wording. I love the way it looks. Even though that shadow piece was a little hairy to cut, I don’t know why I wasn’t using my tools earlier.

Once everything was glued on I embellished with a wire hanger and ribbon with buttons. I don’t know if I should keep it or give it away. I certainly think it was a great first wood project if I do say so myself….even if I messed up the lines in the cap because of my way too caffeinated hands….*shrugs*…now to find something to use the router on.

If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. I don’t know if I explained this enough or clearly. It’s probably because of the stupid double ear ache. Blah!

Meet the Still Here Notepad.
A gentle reset for the days that hurt, when the smallest wins still count.

Foil lovers... we heard you. Since our foil equi Foil lovers... we heard you.

Since our foil equipment went down, the messages and emails have not stopped. We know how much you love the look and honestly we love it too.

Replacing commercial foil equipment runs into the tens of thousands of dollars and, like a lot of small businesses right now, that's just not realistic.

After months of testing with our existing setup, we think we found a way to bring foil back.

It's not mass factory perfect. Occasionally there may be a tiny spot where the foil doesn't pull 100%. Nothing obvious, nothing we wouldn't personally use, and nothing that doesn't meet our standards will ship.

But overall? We think it looks pretty gorgeous.

Before we officially bring foil back…

Would you still want it knowing it's handcrafted and not machine perfect?

Tell me honestly in the comments. Your feedback will decide this one.

Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reaso Personal Size planners get a bad rap for one reason…

They’re narrow.

And I get it.
Personal is the perfect middle ground. Bigger than Pocket, fits in your purse, but way more portable than A5.

But the width?
That’s always been the complaint.

Lately I’ve been seeing people try to squeeze Personal Wide into standard Personal binders… and then wonder why the pages stick out.

So instead of making it wider… I went the other direction.

Foldouts.

For 2026, I reworked the layout to give you more planning space without changing the footprint.

Month on one page
Straight into your weekly
Dashboard space (because you know I had to keep that)
And when it’s folded?
Standard Personal Size. Fits your binder like it should.

Now I need your opinion before I finalize this…
