Christmas Gift Tags

Hey everyone.  I know I have been MIA lately with the crafty posts but I have been busy with the Make the Cut forum Nutcrackers in November challenges.  There were 11 challenges for a little over two weeks!  I am bushed.  Besides that, I have been sick all week with a head and stomach thing.

Anywho, here is a quick little project I whipped up for the gift tag challenge.  I was running out of time because of the other projects but wanted to get something in on every one.  So, here it is.

I, of course, made these in Make the Cut.  Best software evar and bringer of happiness!  This is just a basic shapes rectangle welded with different elements.  I brought this flourish to the mat after I made the rectangle the size I was looking for.  (For the life of me, I cannot remember where I got the flourish.)  I then placed them on the rectangle where I wanted them, then shadowed just the flourish.

Closing the eye on the flourish, I then selected the two shadows with the rectangle.  Then hit weld.   Opened the eye on the flourish, then hit join.  Next, was deciding on what Christmas elements to add.  The tags had to be a set of three with a common theme.

I used the Christmas Simple Shapes from Lettering Delights for the snowflake, dove and holly leaves with berries.  Same as before, just place on the tag where you want them then hit join.  Easy peasy! Cut with your cutter and smudge with your ink of choice.  I used Tim Holtz Distress Inkin Dusty Concord, Festive Berries and Broken China.  My new obsession, these inks are, yes, yes. Well, that's all I have for today.  Hope you got a little enjoyment out of such a simple project.  Don't forget about the Hopping through the Holidays blog hop this Friday!  Happy crafting!

Christmas Morning Collection

New from SVG Cuts is an adorable collection of elements from our childhood Christmases past.  It's appropriately called Christmas Morning.  I can see these being used on my different holiday projects. My favorite is the cute robot and little red tricycle.

Be sure to go check it out now while it's free with a purchase of $9.98 or more and let the joy of Christmas morning inspire your newest paper projects! Adorn over-sized gift tags with the silly sock monkey or purchase a package of plain gift bags and adorn them with the pretty Rudolph or a Russian nesting doll. Remember holidays gone by with the quirky Kewpie doll or set up a tea party for dollies and teddies! Create a vintage-inspired masculine themed project with the toy car or make a funny "boy" project with the silly robot. Tie a ribbon with a jingle bell around the rocking horse reindeer or pair the dog and the domino for a playful look. You also get the adorable vintage Santa, the monkey with cymbals, the pull-toy elf, the game pieces and dice, the spinning top, the Christmas light bulb, the toy drum and the Santa duck on wheels. Let's play!

Compatible with any software and cutting machine combo that cuts SVG files. Works on any mat size. Characters with eyes may need eyes drawn on with marker if cut below minimum sizes. Full instructions, tips and magnified diagrams given with download.

Their free file this week is the above Christmas tree.  How great to get you started on Christmas cards (I haven't yet ^__^).   SVG Cuts said, "This little tree would be very cute on a card or tag paired with a little present next to it, or a little Scottie dog or any little toy.  Cut the ornaments in metallic, shimmery or glittered paper, add more buttons and brads for ornaments and even twine or ribbon for garland!  You can even emboss the layers of the tree for a more dimensional look.  Add it to a scrapbook page with photos of your family trimming the tree, or even just cut it out and put it on your refrigerator next to your shopping list as a cute little festive decoration".  Well, this would look great paired with the Christmas Morning collection.  Can you see this tree on the front of a card with a few of the elements as presents under it?  Too cute!

A Jillian Vance Design Black Friday Stampalooza

Boy, oh boy, I am really finding the Black Friday crafty deals lately!  Here is another one from my friends over at A Jillian Vance Design.  I love the fact that this little 12 (or maybe is she 13 now?) year old girl saw her parents working hard with their own businesses and she decided to follow in their footsteps.  What an inspiration!

Anyway, they are having a awesome Black Friday sale.  Check out the graphic below for the details.

I know they just re-did the packaging on the Pear Pins.  You now get 50 instead of 25!  Jillian sent me a package of 25 when I placed my order for the new Winter Distress ink set by Tim Holtz (which is only $12 right now).  How generous is that?!?  They are adorable on cards and she also made bracelets out of them.

It's awesome that they only live a few cities away from me so I get my orders pretty quickly.  LOL  I need fast shipping, I am not a doctor!  So get on over there and check out the goodies, trust me you won't be disappointed!  Praying you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

My Little Pumpkins

Well, I could be talking about my boys but I am not.  Because they ain't so little anymore.  Both of them are taller than me!  Nope, I am talking about my last Thanksgiving decor project I have done this year.

Aren't they adorable?!?!  Mary makes the cutest files ever.  The flower is the perfect touch, don't you think?  The papers are from the Harvest Gathering stacks by DCWV and the pumpkins were made in Make the Cut with the Pick a Pumpkin set from SVG Cuts.

I really debated on putting the "Perfect Pumpkin" sign next to the twins here.  They were my first try at the 3D pumpkins and almost ended up in the trash.  I have no patience for glue drying!  That made all the hardship and operator error on these lil darlings.

Here is another shot with the haystack.  You can grab the haystack file for free as my gift to you in MTC or SVG format.  Wrapped in luscious Trendy Twine in Orange Truffle as always.

This is a wider shot of the left side of my mantel.  And this is the whole mantel -

Oops, didn't realize I had taken a picture with my Christmas candlesticks in there.  I put them up to show my friend something and must have snapped a photo before I put them away.  *Shrugs shoulders* you guys who come here enough know I would be weird enough to have a red/green flame flicker in my Fall themed decorations.  Hehehe

What do you guys think?  Thanksgiving enough to get me through till I put up my tree?  I sure hope so.  Thanks for stopping by and looking.  Feel free to leave me a comment or two.  Have a great week and happy crafting!

Big Ghost Pumpkin

Yes, I know the title is a little misleading since the pumpkin is not white nor is it dressed like a ghost.  That's just what Mary over at SVG Cuts decided to name it.  I'm sure there is a perfectly good reason for it that my old, slow brain just can't comprehend right now.  But he is still cute none the less.

I made a few of these in different sizes.  I am going to be posting them over a few days because I need something to put up here.  I am slow on ideas for this blog lately.  ^__^  I have to spread out projects.  LOL

I have no idea why my camera makes my walls look so drab.  They are a nice milk chocolate color and these pictures make them look like dirty dish water.  *sigh*  Oh well.

Here is the haystack I crafted and wrapped with more yummy Orange Truffle Thanksgiving twine from Trendy Twine.  I have the file in SVG and Make the Cut format below for you to download if you would like it.  The pumpkins are from the Pick A Pumpkin set from SVG Cuts.  Those files you are going to have to purchase.  But trust me they are well worth it.  Especially if you wait for a new set to come out.  You can get three sets and/or kits for the price of two!

Here is a close-up of my pumpkins pretty little twine bow.  Darling really.  The little Autumn Splendor sign is from the Recollections Simply Autumn stack.  I used one sheet and had quite a few little signs.  I peppered my house with them because they were all sparkly and cute.

If you haven't taken a look at the Pick a Pumpkin set, make time.  It looks daunting at first but once you get one under your belt it's pretty easy.  SVG Cuts make it easy for you with their excellent instructions and video tutorials.  Oh and the trees in the background are the mistakes I made when I was making my Thankful Tree.  I just couldn't bear to waste good chipboard, so I found another use for them.  Looks really fall-y if I do say so myself.  If you want to download the tree file, go here.

For the haystack, pick your pleasure - MTC or SVG.  Well, that's all for this weekend.  Have a great day crafting!

Give Thanks Banner

Here is a quick look at the Thanksgiving banner that is hanging over my fireplace.  I really like how it came out.  Very festive.

The papers used here is the Harvest Gathering stacks my DCWV, both the solid and pattern.  For the pennants, Lettering Delights has a nice SVG set for $2.  I cut five of the fish tale looking one.  Instead of folding them over the twine, I cut them in half.  I knew ahead of time I wanted the twine to go over the front of the lettering.  Why?  I needed to see the wonderful twine from my friend Lesley of Trendy Twine.  It is in Orange Truffle (yummy!), perfect for Thanksgiving or Autumn projects.

In Make the Cut, I brought in the "Give Thanks" text in Oklahoma font to the mat.  Then just made a simple shadow layer.  Then glue all three pieces together, punch holes for the twine and string them together.  Easy peasy lemon squeezee!

Oh, I have been on this making crinkle ribbon kick.  Do you see that lovely crinkly bow?  Yep, I made that myself.  Trust me it looks better in person.  I have been experimenting with various inks and techniques.  This was not my best colors, you should see the persimmon one I made.  So purdy!

Hope you enjoyed today's project.  Come back tomorrow for some more Holiday crafts.  Happy Friday everyone!

Thankful Tree

Hey everyone!  I am back, but for only a brief moment.  Just thought I would let you see what I have been working on.  I finished my Fall decor but it's not much.  I have been so busy working on the Ladies Banquet that all the cute Autumn decorations I had in mind didn't get made.

I did manage a few and today I am going to show you our "Thankful Tree." Our Thanksgiving dinner is this weekend with my husband's side of the family.  It's at our house this year.  So I have been busy getting the menu ready and shopping.  Then comes the cooking and my favorite, the baking.  So I needed something simple yet adorable. This fit the bill.

The tree was cut out at 10" high four times, folded and glued together.  The Oak leaves are 1.5" high and cut with various sheets of colored paper from Harvest Gathering solid stack by DCWV.  I know it doesn't look finished.  I mean the leaves are not on the tree!  Well, the family hasn't told me what they are thankful for yet.  Right before dinner we are going to fill out the leaves with what we are thankful for and glue them back on the branches.  How cute it that?!?  I hope that goes well.  You don't know the sorts of trouble simple things like that bring with my boys.  o_O

I am putting this up half-done in case anyone else wants to complete the tree before Thanksgiving.  Maybe after the boys fill out their leaves, I will snap a few pictures so you can see how humble my boys are *snicker*.  Couldn't type that with a straight face.......

Here is the entire centerpiece, not gorgeous but I just threw out what I had last year.  I did add the Thankful tree and little signs from the Recollections Simply Autumn stack.  Awesome stack, so fun.  I forgot to tell you guys I cannot decorate to save my life.  ^__^   Oh well.

The files I made are below for anyone who wants them as a little gift/freebie. Because I am thankful for each and everyone of you who visits my silly little blog!  I really do appreciate you guys and pray you have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I have Make the Cut and SVG versions for your crafting pleasure.
